Tazuko Yozan Tanifuji's Profile (Biography)
      
      Born in Akita, Japan
    1964  She studied mandolin at Tsuru College.

    1996 She began studying Tozan-ryu shakuhachi under Tanifuji Kozan and
        performed in many concers as a member of Hogaku group "Miyabi-kai"
    1998  She got a biwa with encouragement of famed shakuhachi player and composer     
        Miyata Kohachiro, and began studying biwa under Tahara Junko of Pro Musica
        Nipponia who wrote the primer or manual of biwa for her. "The Bamboo and the
        Mulberry"(Take to Kuwa) as the first performance was composed by Kozan for
        biwa & shakuhachi duet.

    2001  Received a teaching certificate at the level of Jun Shi-han in the Tozan school
        of shakuhachi examination held in Sapporo, Hokkaido
    2002  The first performance of "Taking to Dancing Snow"(Kaza-hana ni Yosete)
        composed by Kozan in Kitami Art and Culture Hall. It's a biwa & shakuhachi duet piece.
        Joined "Makiko Tanifuji Flute Concert" in Shimamaki, Hokkaido, and played the
        mandolin, the shakuhachi, and the biwa.

    2004  Koyo and Kozan performed the biwa and shakulute at New York University
         in the International Shakuhachi Festival.
         Received the certificate of shakuhachi master of Shin-Tozan school in the
         examination held in Sapporo in November.

    2005  In June, Tazuko was invited by Ankara City, Beypazari City, and JapanTurkey
         Culture Exchange Association, and there had three concerts in all. She played
        the biwa and the shakuhachi.

    2006  The first performance "Snow Fairy Fantazy" (Yuki-onna genso) for biwa & shinobue
         and shakuhachi with the wa-daiko player and the dancer of Japanese dancing in November.

        She has joined the Shin-Tozan school Women Concert in Kobe City(1999),
        Matsumoto City(2000 & 2003), and Kita-Kyushu City(2005)
